Amber Autumn, Hearth and Home

the Rustle of leaves 
in a cold Autumn breeze
Whispers of future Frost
place their palms on the windows, and within, 

small house, Raucous with 
Laughter, Somber With Remembrance
of visitors
Past.

Warmth, in Light And Love, 
yellow bulbs cast, and,
Glasses Clink with wine,
and Heat escapes the kitchen.

noir? Not. instead, Joy Prevails
new guests signaled with 
A Cheer and
Even more food

children run, weaving between
adult legs, and are chuckled at, forming
Memories, and Bonds
For a lifetime.

at last, darkness sits on its haunches, 
Twilight on the horizon, and
the call comes from the kitchen
that the bird has come Home.
